Who He is

Craig Koss is the Owner/Operator and Private Investigator of Coarsegold Private Security & Investigation.

He is a Honorably retired San Francisco Sheriff Sergeant.

He has over 30 years of experience  performing, providing and supervising law enforcement, investigations, training, crime prevention, dignitary protection, administrative, and security duties.

In 1990, as the Training Manager, he was instrumental in developing and implementing the first formal structured Field Training Program for law enforcement services serving the unique needs and challenges for the Department of Public Health. Now 21 years later, the Field Training Program has trained over 200 members and continues to be the gold standard used to train newly assigned Deputies to the San Francisco Sheriff's Department Institutional Patrol Unit.

During his law enforcement career he earned several honors including a Citation for Exemplary Performance for duties performed during the earthquake of October 17, 1989 and it's aftermath.

Upon his retirement in 2007 he was honored with a Proclamation from the Mayor of the City & County of San Francisco, and a Certificate of Honor from the Health Commissioners of the San Francisco Department of Public Health.

In the private field, he has been a State licensed Private Patrol Operator since 1989 and Private Investigator since 1990. He was the Owner/Operator/PI of San Lorenzo Patrol & Investigation in the San Francisco bay area. 

After his retirement from public service he relocated his private business to Coarsegold and changed the business name to Coarsegold Private Security & Investigation to reflect the area that he now primarily serves.
